Park Avenue

Park Avenue is a registered care home offering a highly respected quality service for the individual with mental health needs from the age of 18, situated in the leafy borough of Farnborough, Hampshire. There are two units adjacent to each other, each providing twelve single bedrooms and a flat as accommodation. Comfortable lounges offer wide screen televisions, internet access and games consoles. An activities room, computer facilities and vegetable plot are also available for the clients' benefit. The garden is laid to lawn, with a large patio area and direct access to a local park. The area is well served by public transport, and the local village of North camp is within walking distance.

During your stay we invite you to take an active part in the running of the Home
A Resident’s Committee and monthly Resident meetings ensure the service continues to provide the best possible support to achieve your needs and wishes - and there are many other ways in which you can become involved.

We encourage you to participate in the full programme of in-house activities which are organised by the residents themselves. Examples of such activities include poetry; arts and crafts; board games; the Wii; movie nights and discos! Residents also plan the annual holiday.

We have strong links within the local community:
  • Badminton, swimming, bowling and the gym at Farnborough Leisure Centre
  • Courses at the Farnborough College of Technology
  • Farnborough Library
  • Trips to the theatre and cinema
  • Voluntary work in charity shops
  • Paid work with small businesses
  • Access to various day centres and services

A full description is available in the Guide to Living in Farnborough which is part of your welcome pack.

As part of the rehabilitation process, we encourage you to be independent and responsible by participating in communal chores as well as your own individual tasks. You are responsible for your own personal laundry, including bed linen and towels.

A cooked meal is provided daily and support given for breakfast and your other chosen mealtime. When you are ready to cook for yourself, you will be allocated a budget and supported to plan, shop and cook your daily meal. Any daily essentials will continue to be provided by the home.

A key to your own room and the front door will be issued to you. Staff may only enter your room with your permission, or in the event of an accident, emergency or health & safety concerns. You are invited to bring your own furniture and home comforts, but all electrical appliances will need to undergo an electrical safety test before use.

Visitors are welcome, but are not encouraged if this interrupts with your programme of activities. Overnight stays are not possible, although staff will be able to suggest alternative locations.

Personal pets can only be accepted to the home with the approval of other residents and management.
